First Baptist Church:

The First Baptist Church was built in the 1820s and redesigned during the 1860s. It is a rustic vernacular wood-outline church executed in the late Federal/early Greek Revival style. The 1.5-story, a substantial timber-confined structure includes a square, hip-roofed ringer tower. Likewise on the property are a burial ground, dry-laid stone wall, and receiving vault. Most of the internment date to the mid nineteenth century since the church had been sorted out around 1793.The Charleston Historical Society acquired the property in 1978. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

Alabama State Capitol:

The state capitol has been designated a National Historic Landmark. The Alabama State Capitol is where Jefferson Davis took the oath of office as president of the Confederate States of America and where the Civil Rights March ended with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivering a stirring speech from the top of its steps. The historic Senate and House of Representatives Chambers, the old Supreme Court Chambers, and the original governor’s office have all been restored to their Civil War-era appearance.
